Thoughtful photography to last from generation to generation.
What We Do
Letting my creative eye do the talking
My hope with my photography is that I can document people and their families in a way that is fun, meaningful and stress free. The best compliment that I can receive after a session is that everyone had fun and can’t wait for next time
You photographed my family 18 years ago just weeks before my dad died of cancer. I remember how you tried to make him as comfortable as possible because he was in pain. You captured many wonderful pictures and gave them all to my mom, not just the portraits that we ordered. We do look back on them, especially the candids you snapped with the grand babies. You felt our pain, you joined in with us like you were part of the family. Your empathy for what our family was facing at that time came through in your compassion. This happened so long ago, but I remember it clearly because it was one of the last things we did with Dad.
There are times in life when you cross paths with people and you know that they have found their purpose, their niche, and have realized a gift they can offer to the world – this is Jodi. Jodi captures amazing photos of special moments, finding a way to bring out her client’s best, with a personalized flair that helps bring their true character to light. Aside from having a session and prints from Jodi, I have seen her work with diverse groups of clients in a wide range of settings and without fail, provides superior images. This is evidence of her ability to ensure that her clients feel both comfortable and beautiful in her sessions.
There are moments that take our breath away in life, and moments we wish we could have seen with our own eyes. Jodi Sware and A Thousand Words Photography captures the seconds you thought you lost, only because you blinked.

I couldn’t rate Jodi high enough. Firstly, leading up to our shoot communication was efficient and prompt, it might seem like an insignificant thing but when you’re working around busy schedules having quick sensible answers to questions is very helpful.
During the shoot, well what can I say. Jodi was energetic, confident and a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of the day itself. I am no model per say so being infront of a camera is not a comfortable place for me to be but she walked me through the shots so effortlessly and made me truly feel comfortable. She was funny, laid back and open to trying a variety of ideas. When I met with her again to pick out photos I received a huge amount which was wonderful, but also the quality of them is stunning. Jodi is an excellent photographer and artist and I am lucky to have the memories that she has captured.
When Jodi takes photos, she puts her whole heart into them. She genuinely loves what she does and you can tell by her excitement during photo shoots. That’s my favourite part of a session with her, how excited she gets about it! It calms your nerves and helps everyone to relax and have fun with it. Even at times when you don’t feel you look your greatest, like after the arrival of a new baby, she makes you feel beautiful and reminds you to love and appreciate those little moments with your little people.
